Bio - Owen Paul is a Scottish singer, best known in the UK for his 1986 No. 3 hit single, "My Favourite Waste of Time", a cover version of a song that was originally written and recorded by Marshall Crenshaw. After touring and recording with Mike & The Mechanics, and a spell with Scottish supergroup Four Good Men, Owen Paul became the lead vocalist for XSM (Ex Simple Mind), a band featuring original members of the group. Thirty years since he first found fame he continues to perform extensively both as a solo artist, with XSM and with his band at 80's Festivals.
He has played a leading role in a major musical theatre production, toured the UK and Europe with Phil Collins as one of 'Mike and the Mechanics' as well as being their vocal arranger on their last album 'Rewired.' Owen was even harassed by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne in the infamous "noisy neighbours" episode on MTV's record breaking show The Osbournes.
For over ten years he ran a West End theatre in London's Leicester Square (home of the Boy George musical “TABOO”) as well as a successful Ballroom and Latin Dancing Club. He produced a triple platinum selling album for the Japanese band 'Buck Tick' which became number one in their native country and Co-Produced the winning UK entry for Eurovision 2001 held in Copenhagen, for the young Sheffield singer Lindsay Dracass, having a UK top 20 hit at the same time.
In January 2014 Owen released “The One” his first official single in the UK since 1987, available now through iTunes, Amazon and Spotify, and followed this with the release of his new album “About Time II” in the autumn of the same year.
November 2016 brings the release of two brand new versions of his unforgettable 80’s classic “My Favourite Waste of Time" (Part One is here and Part Two will be coming next year) to celebrate its 30th Anniversary, plus a multitude of dance remixes, all available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and more.
