AV Super Sunshine’s “Time Bomb” Mixes Are Ready To Explode!

AV Super Sunshine The Original Family Band 500x323When we last left AV Super Sunshine he had just turned us on to two new releases, "Apple" and "Orange", which fired up our DJs and rocketed up our charts taking turns at the coveted number one spot in both our crossover and dance categories. AV is a true authentic artist who writes his signature modern classic rock from the heart of experience and more important, lives it through an authentic life.

His new release “Time Bomb” begins as signature AV modern classic rock recorded in a live room of Nashville’s finest authentic Americana rockers under the eye of producer James House and care of mega-engineer Joe Costa. To make the songs ”Starfleet Ready” AV asked his friend and band leader, DJ hit maker Michael Bradford, to lift the really good stems and infuse them with his expert Moog playing and programming. The result is several Dance-Pop-Rock mixes designed especially for our club DJs who dig dance club tracks that sound, play and fill the floor like a proven radio hit should.

Written in 2012, while still an open mic host, and originally meant to be performed by AV’s Original Family Band, “Time Bomb” was inspired by a request to check out the 90s all girl rock group The Donnas. AV explains, “I mixed a cover of Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself” into a live acoustic set one night and my fellow host Jordin Baas, who is now known as “Elroy Jordin", suggested I check out the Donnas 2004 cover of it. I dialed it up on Youtube and a video of the 70s all girl rock group The Runaways performing “Cherry Bomb” popped up in the side bar. After watching Lita Ford and Joan Jett rock it, I knew I wanted to write a song like that, but with a bigger hook and more excitement. I wanted a really big delivery like a true anthem song”.

“At the time I had recently kicked the anti-depressant Pristiq which works by affecting the chemical levels in your brain. I didn’t like the drug’s side effects so I asked my Doctor to consider cutting my dosage in half. Instead he wanted to double it.” AV Super Sunshine continues, “I felt cheated and went cold turkey which was rough. “Time Bomb” was the perfect song hook because I felt like I was about to explode. My open mic co-host Jordin, Philomena, myself and another girl had an all ages pop band “the Original Family Band” at the time so it made sense to ask Jordin to contribute lyrically to the second verse. It was a lot of fun to write.”

“The band disassembled shortly after on Valentine’s Day 2013 and never had a chance to learn the song. Then good luck struck in April of that same year when I was invited to Nashville to record with some really cool musicians at Ben Fold’s vintage studio.” AV becomes more excited and adds, “Philomena and I met Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman there while touring the studio. He was recording a complete string orchestra in the main live room for his album “The Glorious Unfolding” and showed us around his set up. It was so cool. It was at that moment I knew this was where the album tracks for Candyland were going to be recorded.”

The “Time Bomb” album mix was recorded at Ben Folds Nashville which was the original RCA Victor Studio A where Elvis Presley recorded. Additional overdubs were done at House of Blues and Dream On Studios, also both in Nashville. It was produced by Grammy nominated James House and was recorded and mixed by Joe Costa. The “Time Bomb” remixes were created in Los Angeles by legendary hit maker Michael Bradford and mastered in New York City by Andy Van Dette. Bradford’s remixes have helped AV Super Sunshine chart five number ones on both Starfleet’s Dance and Crossover charts this past year. These were “Baby Goodbye 2017” which amazingly debuted at number 2 (Dance 04-01-17) and went to number one (04-16-17), “I Am Alien” (07-01-17), “Smile” (01-01-18), “Orange” (04-16-18) and “Apple” (05-16-18).

“Apple”, “Orange” and “Time Bomb” are cornerstone songs from AV Super Sunshine’s upcoming “Candyland” release. A full length CD of dance remixes from “Candyland" entitled “Candyland Remixes Volume One” is also scheduled to drop soon. The new remix CD will include these new tracks which Starfleet is exclusively premiering first. Future mixes from the “Volume One” disc will also first be dropping here on Starfleet so stay tuned.
